Spelling With Countries app for iPhone and iPad

What do the fields of social studies, history, cultural anthropology, political science, and civics all have in common? A basis in geography - or, the study of the land masses we call nations.

The world is big. If you want to talk about it - its magnificence, its problems - it helps to be able to know its countries.

Spelling With Countries is an app that challenges you to identify and spell the names of the 48 most populated countries across the globe. When you begin, a picture of a country appears beneath its name - but the country’s letters are jumbled. Players must rearrange the letters to spell the name correctly by dragging the letters into the correct boxes.

Scoring is based on how many you get right in a row, or “streak.” The “best streak” and “current streak” is displayed on the screen. This scoring method encourages healthy competition with others as well as motivates players to beat themselves.

A few sessions with this app and you’ll be spotting and spelling countries ranging from Afghanistan to Uganda. Impress your friends, your teachers, and most of all, get to know the world around you much better.
